October 11, 2019

BOSTON— Blue Man Group Boston has announced its 5th annual special autism-friendly performance which will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 11:00 am. The autism-friendly performance is suitable for individuals and families affected by autism and other sensory-related issues.

Tickets are discounted for this show and are $30, $40 and $50 with $5 from every ticket benefitting Autism Speaks. In addition, Blue Man Group Boston will also be collecting donations for Autism Speaks during the month of October.

Blue Man Group Boston staff worked closely with the New England chapter of Autism Speaks to make slight modifications for the autism-friendly performance including adjusting sound and light levels at various moments.  The Blue Men will keep their approach to the audience more subdued and limit the amount of direct interaction with the audience.  Foam earplugs are also available upon request.

“We are thrilled to work with Blue Man Group Boston, so our community can enjoy a sensory-friendly presentation of the Blue Man performance experience,” said Jill Precopio, Executive Director, New England Chapter of Autism Speaks.  “The entire Boston team is committed to making this performance comfortable for individuals on the spectrum and their families.  Because of this our families look forward to this show each year.”

Blue Man Group Boston has also partnered with Yogibo to provide a comfortable lounge area in the Charles Playhouse for families seeking a break from the excitement.

"We are honored to once again partner with Autism Speaks to bring our show to this community,” said Jonathan Screnci, Resident General Manager, Blue Man Group Boston. “We have worked with them to modify the show in a way that doesn’t change the content, but provides a more comfortable environment for this audience to enjoy our unique style of art and music.”
