Meet Mom Boss Arielle Greenleaf with Expect to Sleep Again Consulting

By Arielle Greenleaf March 2, 2020

This week, we meet Arielle Greenleaf. Arielle, a (formerly) tired mama, founded Expect to Sleep Again Sleep Consulting and is committed to a holistic approach to addressing pediatric sleep issues. "We partner with each of our families and provide evidence-based, individualized sleep solutions to help everyone get the sleep they need."

Describe yourself in 5 words. Compassionate, empathic, loyal, dreamer, doer.

Describe your business, what services do you offer. My business was born out of my own experience as a sleep-deprived new mom. I was not just tired; I was exhausted in every sense of the word. Preparing for my return to work, I was still waking multiple times a night with my baby and I wasn't sure how I'd even make it through to the next day without quality sleep.

My life changed and clouds parted when a friend suggested I hire a sleep consultant. Within two weeks, my baby and I were getting the rest we needed and I finally started to feel like myself again... as much as one can after baby! Once I was well-rested, I started noticing other parents suffering and couldn't help but offer my support and guidance toward achieving better sleep. I created a community of nearly 2,000 parents on Facebook and finally decided to make the leap to become certified as a pediatric sleep consultant.

Over the last four years, I've dedicated my life to helping families dig out from those desperate throes of sleep deprivation. In 2019, I launched an online newborn sleep course perfect for those preparing for baby or in those feeling lost in those early months. I also launched the Dream School Sleep Consultant Training Program to teach others to follow their passion for baby and child sleep and help families around the globe. My business has also grown to include sleep consultants from across the United States and Canada.

I've had the opportunity to have my sleep expertise featured in the New York Times Parenting section, Slate Parenting, and other national publications.

What do you love about the work you do? Since I was a little girl, I have always been a helper and an empath (which can sometimes feel like a vice!). I feel the pain of those who come to me in desperation and I absolutely love forming close relationships with my clients to help them lead a healthier, happier, well-rested life. When I work with families, it's not just for the two or four-week period. They are added to my online support group and can come to me ANY time if they need me. My goal is to be a partner, a cheerleader, and support those who are feeling lost in this winding road they call parenthood, which can feel so isolating at times. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect profession and I truly have my (formerly) sleepless daughter to thank for it!

What do you want other moms and parents to know about your business? Sleep consultants can get a bad name. Sleep can be a polarizing parenting topic (what isn't these days?!). It shouldn't be. If what you're doing is working well for you and your baby is safe, then more power to you and your family! We are here for those families who are truly struggling and need some guidance to make a change. We help families in a variety of ways - we aren't here to tell you to put your baby in the crib and shut the door for the night. We are here to create individualized plans of action and support to make sure each family gets the best advice for their specific situation. Our ultimate goal is for families to walk away happier and healthier for the long term.

How can your business make the holidays brighter?  Everyone wants the gift of sleep! We offer gift certificates for each of our packages, as well as our online newborn course (a great baby shower gift!).

What advice would you give to your younger self at age 20? 30? Wow, great question. Well, I think I'd tell myself you never know what's around the corner or what is in store. Learn from the hard times and use them as reasons to change, to grow, and to manifest them into positives. I still remember crying on my bathroom floor when my daughter was a newborn wondering how I'd ever make it back to work so sleep deprived. Never in a million years did I think that five years later I'd be the owner of a successful business with an amazing team of consultants, and a growing certification program, all of which I built myself! Always believe in yourself. Never push those burning passions to the side... follow them, nurture them, and let them flourish!
